So far, So bad

It occurred to me that in quest to develop the remote control latch for clothing I might be able to adapt a small speaker. The small profile speakers out of a laptop really don't develop that much force during normal operation. I tried progressively larger current pulses to see how far I could push it. The 1 watt (continuous operation) speaker I was playing with got all the way to 7 watt before it made a bad sizzling sound, followed by a bad smell. Even at 6 watts it doesn't really generate that much mechanical oomph. I think need to figure out what kind of clasp I can use. From there I can sort out how much force I need to generate to pop it off by remote control.
